Angry Bairds was founded by MA Screenwriting and Theatre graduates Nazish and Sophie. They like to provoke an audience, entice strangers to talk and explore the uncomfortable through theatre, film or immersive pop-up experiences like EAT and the upcoming refugee experience WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE 2017.
At the core of their writing is a strong female voice, a societal ill, a pop at the media and maybe the odd reference to food.
Nazish Khan is Artistic Director for a London based think-tank and co-founder of Angry Bairds. She has an LLB, the LPC and an MA in Scriptwriting from City University, London. Nazish has a love of vintage typewriters, mismatched chairs and sparkly people. Her first play ‘Pole Factor’ explored extremism through the obsessive faith of the celebrity. It received five stars and was sold out at both the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2013 and the Vault Festival 2014. Her upcoming play DEADLY DIALOGUES explores the different radicalisation processes through a range of highly charged journeys.
Sophie is a London based writer and co-founder of Angry Bairds. She has a Bachelors degree in Drama from Queen Mary, University of London and an MA in Scriptwriting from City University London. A modern day Peter Pan, self-confessed foodie and collector of furniture, Sophie is a literary nerd, and lover of all things food related. Her first play, "PROJECT LOLITA" was a dark satire exploring themes of pedophilia and the influence of the media. It debuted at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2013 receiving sterling reviews, and was reprised at the VAULT Festival 2014.
